Markham neighbourhood — Kenneth Li's home for over 25 years

Kenneth Li is one of Ontario's most recognized Cantonese-language journalists. As an experienced TV host and journalist in Ontario, he has spent his career giving voice to communities that are too often unheard — reporting with clarity, fairness, and deep respect for the people he serves.

But long before the cameras, there was Markham. Kenneth and his family chose Ward 6 as their home over 25 years ago — and they never looked back. He raised his children here, watched the neighbourhood grow and change, and became part of the fabric of this community.

Now, Kenneth is ready to take that same dedication — the same commitment to listening, to accountability, and to amplifying the voices of everyday residents — to City Hall.

25 Years in Markham

This Is Home.

When Kenneth and his family first arrived in Markham, Ward 6 was already a place of possibility — a growing, vibrant, multicultural community that welcomed newcomers and long-time residents alike. They put down roots, enrolled their children in local schools, and became part of the neighbourhood.

Over 25 years, Kenneth has watched Ward 6 evolve. He has seen the pressures of rapid development, the challenges of transit and infrastructure, and the need for stronger community safety. He has also seen the incredible resilience and pride of the people who call this ward home.

That lived experience — as a parent, a neighbour, and a community member — is what drives his campaign. Kenneth doesn't just know Ward 6 from a policy document. He knows it from the school pickup line, the community centre, and the conversations at the front door.

I've watched Ward 6 grow for 25 years. I know what we've built together — and I know what we still need to fight for.

What Kenneth Stands For

Principles That Guide the Campaign

01

Accountability

City Hall should answer to residents — not developers, not insiders. Kenneth will bring the same journalistic rigour to council that he brings to the newsroom.

02

Inclusion

Markham's diversity is its greatest strength. Every resident — regardless of language, background, or how long they've lived here — deserves a seat at the table.

03

Transparency

Decisions that affect Ward 6 should be made in the open, with clear communication to the people they impact.

04

Community First

Every vote, every decision, every conversation will be guided by one question: what is best for the families of Ward 6?
